Jebel Saghro

South of the Atlas Mountains, the Jebel Sahro is a mountainous region of volcanic origin that makes an excellent destination for some winter sunshine.

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Day 2: Drive across the Atlas to Ouarzazate and then through the Draa Valley, famous for its Kasbahs and the palm trees, onto the village of Handour. Here you stay in a village house.
Day 3: Your first day of walking takes you from Handour through several villages and along streams which form a sharp contrast to the brown/red colours of the surrounding hills of Tiguiza. Camp overnight. (5-6 hour trek)
Day 4: Today you see some of the most beautiful scenery in the Jebel Saghro as you pass the Bab n'Ali (Ali's Gate). These are a pair of 60m monolights, and the whole area is reminiscent of the landscape in Monument Valley. Camp overnight. (5 hour trek)
Day 5: Today you hike to the highest point on the trek, Kouaouch (2600m). From here there are spectacular views of the snow-capped Mgoun summit to the north and the vast expanse of the Sahara to the south. Camp overnight. (6 hour trek)
Day 6: Your last day of trekking, walking northwards into the Dades Valley. You cross the canyon and trek over the pass Tizi-n-Ouzarzam (2300m). Stay overnight in Tagdilt in a Gite. (5 hour trek)
Day 7: Drive through the Dades Valley, famous for its Kasbahs and the Todra Gorge, onto Ouarzazate and back to Marrakech.
Day 8: Depart from hotel
