Atlas to Sahara
The perfect trek combination, ascending the High Atlas and crossing the Moroccan Sahara.
At 4,167m, Mount Toubkal (4167m) is the highest mountain in North Africa. The hike to the summit is challenging, but it requires no mountaineering experience and the panoramic view makes the hard work worthwhile!
With the start of the trek just a couple of hours drive from Marrakech, you can reach the summit, return within a week and still have time to explore the Sahara and Morocco’s most captivating city, Marrakech.
|Day 1:||Arrival in Marrakech|
|Day 2:||Drive for approximately 65 km to the start point of the trek, the small village of Imlil that lies beneath the massive Toubkal. Lunch in the guest house is provided preparing you for the 2 hour walk in the afternoon. You spend the night in a Gite at 1900m.|
|Day 3:||Starting early in the morning and you will pass through several villages throughout the day until you are above the valley of Aremd. You follow the east side of the stream and visit the shrine of Chamharouch. Base camp for the night is 3200m.|
|Day 4:||The ascent of Toubkal. Breakfast is served early before you begin climbing the peak of Toubkal. The zig zag path takes you through the 4000m pass until you reach the summit. After experiencing the amazing view, you return to the camp and have the afternoon to rest.|
|Day 5:||After breakfast you descend back to the village of Imlil for lunch. In the afternoon you can visit the town of Imlil where you can have a coffee or buy a souvenir.|
|Day 6:||Drive to the famous Ourika Valley and then on to the spectacular pass of Tichka. You then visit the Roses Valley where you stay in a hotel in Dades Gorge.|
|Day 7:||Destination Merzouga, the real Sahara. A visit to the Todgha gorge, famous for the rock climbing, you then take a camel ride to the camp.|
|Day 8:||The return journey to Marrakech takes you to the big plateau of Alnif. The journey continues to Warzazate via Tizi n'tichka and on to Marrakech|
|Day 9:||Depart from hotel|
